Description - Security Monitoring
Security Control Rooms and Monitoring Centres are essential services to the security industry. They include the coordination of security providers operating in the field, intruder alarm monitoring, duress alarm monitoring, fire alarm monitoring, CCTV/DVST monitoring, remote access control systems and coordination of emergency response and evacuations. They also operate as a central reporting location for record keeping.
Training covers duties and responsibilities expected by those operating security control rooms, including inspecting and maintaining monitoring equipment, use of monitoring equipment, identifying and responding to incidents, reporting and much more.
Note: As of July 2014, the Office of Fair Trading no longer requires an applicant to produce certificates for successful completion of a Security Monitoring course to have the category of Security Guard Monitoring added to their QLD Security Provider Licence. However, we find that most employers will require this evidence of successful completion of training for employment.
