TALON Education and Training specialises in the delivery of nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications and accredited courses. TALON specialises in the delivery of Certificate II and III in Security operations, including areas of Personal Close Protection, Cash in Transit, Security Monitoring, Security Firearms and Defensive Weapons, Firearms Safety Courses, Security guard and Security firearms re-certification.

TALON also delivers courses in First Aid and CPR training and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Our Trainers and Assessors are professionals and collectively bring many years experience in their relative fields. They are dedicated and take great pride in the delivery of current, relevant, quality training.
TALON was created because of a long term vision. The vision to align with and bring together a group of like minded, highly skilled professional individuals in their fields, who would share in the desire to deliver training that goes above and beyond the usual.

TALON is not about “bums on seats”, but rather to develop crucially needed, realistic relevant training courses that are second to none. TALON’s vision is to bring together a “one – stop shop” for all of its selected areas of training provision, so as to bring back learning into specific industries that have been identified as lacking the skills and knowledge required to deal with the environment we live in today.

Shane McAuley – is the CEO, Training Manager and Senior Instructor of TALON Education & Training. He has worked in the field of training and education collectively for over 30 years and has gained vast experience delivering training in a broad cross section of industries. Shane’s long term vision has always been to build relationships with highly skilled, like minded, professional individuals who would share his desire to deliver training that goes above and beyond the usual mundane forms of training that cover the bare minimum. Shane’s vision is to bring the team at TALON Education and Training together to share their experience, skills and knowledge with individuals so as to improve the caliber of those working in their chosen fields.

TALON Education and Training also offers those in International and domestic security industries as well as those in law enforcement and defense force professionals the opportunities to gain further skills or accreditation for the skills and knowledge they currently possess.

Mick Roberts – One of our Senior Instructors, is a military trained, professional consultant, displaying experience within the Security industry. This experience spans 33 years, including service in the Australian Army, deployment to Indonesia, Iraq and Afghanistan either leading or training Australian and American PSD / Close Protection teams. Mick’s most recent deployment was Team Leader of Team 4 for the Australian Ambassador and Embassy staff in Kabul, Afghanistan in 2012. This experience includes the instruction of security in high risk environments, defensive tactics, security weapons, specialising in ‘armed and unarmed’ Combat Training in hostile environments Tactical Pistol and Rifle Instructor.

Mike Kingston – A Senior Instructor, Mike served for 16 years in the Australian Regular Army. After an initial period of service as an Electronic Technician he corps transferred and became a Physical Training Instructor (PTI), serving as an Adventure Training Leader and a unit PTI for a Commando company. Mike decided he needed a more challenging role and subsequently completed Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) selection. He completed 6 years in the SASR commencing as a water operator but transferring to a freefall troop where he served as a sniper supervisor and patrol signaller. During his time with SASR Mike gained valuable experience in Iraq, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Solomon Islands. After leaving the army Mike worked in various management roles in the corporate sector gaining additional experience in South Africa, USA, Saudi Arabia, China and Nigeria before taking up a position as an Operational Safety Trainer, teaching firearms and defensive tactics for an Australian Government agency. He continues to work in an operational role within this agency. Mike is an experienced sporting and recreational shooter.

Cameron Lloyd – A Senior Instructor, Cameron has spent the last 13 years working in law enforcement. After a short, but promising, career as a professional fighter, followed by university study, Cameron joined the Queensland Police Service. While working as a General Duties Officer he was recognised by his peers and supervisors as having an extremely high level of officer safety skills and tactical acumen. This ultimately led him to a position as a Firearms and Officer Safety Training Instructor at the Queensland Police Service Academy. During this time Cameron continued his professional development in the field of skills training and developed a coaching style that has proven extremely effective. Cameron left this position to take up an Officer in Charge position at a rural, one-officer station. While he enjoyed the lifestyle this role offered, his passion for skills training led to him leaving the Queensland Police to take up a position, as an Operational Safety Trainer, for an Australian Government department. Cameron is a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) and currently serves as a reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force. Like Mike, he is an experienced sporting and recreational shooter.

Rafe Maclennan – A Senior Instructor, is the director of the Alternative Options Security Group (AOSG) an Australian whole of service security provider. AOSG is an expansion of services originally provided by RD Investigations predominantly targeting the physical security and security training needs within Australia. We still provide comprehensive private and corporate investigation services within Australia as well as globally with the assistance of our affiliated international partner companies.
Personally, I have spent the larger part of my career focused on a law enforcement profession. Over the last 17 years, I have worked as a Police Officer in Queensland, as a Tactical Marine Officer with an Australian Government agency patrolling Australia’s further most borders in a maritime environment and within the Australian private security and investigations sector.
As a private investigator and private security operator I hold a current Queensland Security Licence with certifications in Bodyguard, Private Investigator, Cash in Transit, Monitoring, Unarmed Security and Crowd Control.
I am dedicated to the security profession and continue to better myself through gaining as much experience as possible throughout the sector so that I can provide a better service to others.

Ben Alloway – has been involved with the security industry as a professional for over 10 years. Most recently focusing his attentions between Close Protection and armed Cash in Transit operatons.
As a professional athlete, Ben has competed at the pinnacle of mixed martial arts competing for the UFC. After being on the TV show The Ultimate Fighter he then went on the win awards for KO of the night and Fight of the night. He also holds 2 national MMA titles to date.
Currently Benny owns BBA MMA fitness facility on the Gold Coast, where he teaches MMA, unarmed self defense and fitness classes. Ben has joined the team at TALON as one of our highly competent unarmed combat instructors.
